Qualification Overview

The overall aims of the Level 5 Diploma in Psychology qualification are to provide learners with a specialist programme of study that offers an in-depth knowledge and understanding of key aspects within the field of psychology.

The Level 5 units enable learners to specialise and advance in a variety of relevant subject areas, focusing on how contemporary psychology is applied today. Learners will develop and enhance their skills in the following areas: mental health and psychopathology, cognitive psychology, visual perception, the diversity of addiction, and social psychology—with an emphasis on pro- and anti-social behaviour. Additionally, they will explore individual differences in criminology, intelligence, and personality, while engaging with contemporary debates and issues in psychology.

Upon successful completion of the QUALIFI Level 7 Diploma in Psychology, learners will have the opportunity to progress to further study or employment.

Entry Requirements

Approved centres are responsible for reviewing and making decisions regarding an applicant’s ability to successfully complete the learning programme and meet the qualification’s demands. The initial assessment conducted by the centre must consider the support readily available or that can be arranged to meet individual learner needs, as appropriate.

This qualification has been designed to be accessible, without artificial barriers restricting entry. To enrol, applicants must be aged 18 or over.

For applicants whose first language is not English, an IELTS score of 6 (or equivalent) is required. International qualifications will be verified to ensure they meet the entry requirements for UK higher education postgraduate programmes, where applicable. Applicants are typically required to provide two supporting references, at least one of which should preferably be academic.

In some cases, applicants with significant experience but no formal qualifications may be considered, subject to an interview and demonstration of their ability to meet the qualification’s demands.
