Qualification Overview

The rationale for the Diploma is to provide recognition for those who wish to develop their abilities within the post-16 education and training sector. This includes further education colleges, adult and community education providers, offender education, work-based learning providers, the third/voluntary sector, and independent training organisations.

The qualification will enable learners to become independent, self-directed learners, equipping them with the tools and motivation to continue learning, developing, and reflecting on their practice throughout their careers.

It is also envisaged that all Qualifi centres will consider this qualification to enhance their teaching knowledge, provide consistent and standardised assessment reports, and deliver appropriate feedback to learners.

  • Caring for children through play out of school

Learning Outcomes

  1. Enable learners to apply analytical and evaluative education and teaching principles in both private and public educational settings.
  2. Enhance analytical, practical, and evaluative skills related to teaching and education across all sectors.
  3. Develop the learner’s ability to recognise and reflect on their personal learning and development process, thereby improving key personal, social, and transferable skills.
  4. Encourage the learner’s self-reflection, as well as their analytical, intellectual, and transferable skills.
  5. Identify and understand roles, responsibilities, and relationships in education and training.
  6. Understand how to plan effectively to meet the needs of learners in education and training.
  7. Deliver high-quality education and training.
  8. Understand how to assess learners in education and training.
  9. Understand how to use appropriate resources for education and training.

Entry Requirements

  1. “Early year setting” → “early years setting” (correct pluralisation)
  2. “Upskill into” → retained, as it is commonly used in British English
  3. “Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However,” → combined into one sentence with a semicolon for smoother flow
  4. “Full Level 3 early years/childcare qualification” → “full Level 3 early years or childcare qualification” (avoiding slash notation for formality)
  5. “They need to make sure” → “They must verify” (more formal)
  6. “Literacy, numeracy and health and safety” → “literacy, numeracy, health, and safety” (Oxford comma added for clarity)
  7. “Should not undertake another qualification” → “should not enrol in another qualification” (more natural phrasing)
