Qualifi Level 3 Certificate in Thai Massage

Qualification Overview

The Level 3 Diploma qualification has been designed primarily to offer a structured training programme for centres delivering the off-the-job training component of the Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist apprenticeship standard. This qualification maps the skills, knowledge, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard into units and assessment criteria, aligned with the relevant National Occupational Standards (NOS).

Units

To achieve this qualification a learner must select and successfully complete three mandatory units. Two external MCQ – multiple choice question papers relating to implement health, safety and hygiene and client consultation and profiling must be achieved.

Mandatory

  • Implement health, safety, and hygiene
  • Client consultation and profiling
  • Thai massage

Learning Outcomes

  1. Health, Safety, and Hygiene – Learners will apply their advanced knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and hygiene practices by researching relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. They will evaluate and refine these policies and procedures when implementing health, safety, and hygiene measures in the salon, for themselves, and for clients during treatments.
  2. Client Consultation and Profiling – This underpins all practical technical units within the qualification. Learners will carry out thorough consultations to develop detailed client lifestyle profiles. From these, they will create tailored wellbeing experiences and holistic therapy treatment plans, designed to meet individual client needs and achieve the desired wellbeing outcomes.
  3. Thai Massage – Learners will develop an understanding of traditional Eastern principles, along with the historical and cultural background of Thai massage. They will acquire the skills to perform Thai massage, which incorporates elements of yoga, acupressure, and shiatsu to enhance clients’ wellbeing, balance, and harmony.

Entry Requirements

  • This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years and older who have achieved a Level 2 qualification or apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy or have appropriate industry experience for direct entry at Level 3. Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is suited to the ability of learners.
  • The qualification has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. Entry to the qualification will be through centre interview and learners will be assessed on an individual basis.
