Qualification Overview

These practical, knowledge-led qualifications have been designed to help beauty therapists enhance their professional skills and competencies by mastering advanced techniques. The aim is to boost employability by expanding the range of treatments they can offer, including: consultation and profiling, body massage, facial electrotherapy, body electrotherapy, epilation, lash lifting and brow lamination, advanced lash extensions, and intimate waxing. The qualifications will allow beauty therapists to build confidence in their practice while collecting evidence in a realistic work setting.

The Diploma and Certificates are intended to recognise individuals seeking the essential professional skills required for employment in the beauty and spa sectors. The Qualifi Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy and its linked Certificates are ideal for those progressing from a Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification or from the Level 2 Beauty Therapist apprenticeship.

Units

To attain this qualification, a learner must successfully complete a total of nine units. This includes all eight mandatory units and at least one unit from the optional section.

  • Implement health, safety, and hygiene
  • Client consultation and profiling
  • Facial electrotherapy

Learning Outcomes

  1. Health, Safety, and Hygiene Implementation – Learners will apply their advanced knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and hygiene practices by researching relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. They will evaluate and refine these policies and procedures when implementing health, safety, and hygiene measures within the salon, for themselves, and for clients during treatments and services.
  2. Client Consultation and Profiling – This fundamental element supports all practical technical units in the qualification. Learners will carry out thorough consultations to develop detailed client lifestyle profiles. These profiles will then be used to design tailored wellbeing experiences and holistic therapy treatment plans, ensuring individual client needs are met to achieve the desired wellbeing and holistic outcomes.
  3. Facial Electrotherapy Treatments – Learners will perform facial electrotherapy treatments using the following technologies: Galvanic, Microcurrent, Microdermabrasion, low-intensity LED light (below 500mW), skin-warming devices, Radiofrequency/High-frequency (3KHz – 300GHz), lymphatic drainage equipment, and ultrasonic technology. These treatments aim to enhance and maintain skin condition.

Entry Requirements

  • This qualification is intended for learners aged 16 and above who have completed a Level 2 qualification or apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy, or who hold equivalent certifications and/or significant industry experience allowing direct entry to Level 3. However, learners enrolling in the Intimate Waxing unit or Certificate must be at least 18 years old.
  • Training providers are responsible for ensuring this qualification is appropriate for their learners’ capabilities.
  • The qualification has been developed to be inclusive, with no unnecessary barriers to access or progression. Entry will be determined through a training provider interview, with each learner assessed on an individual basis.
