Qualification Overview

This range of practical and knowledge-based qualifications has been designed to develop and equip therapists with the skills, competencies, and expertise required for beauty therapy treatments—primarily focusing on the face, hands, and feet. These qualifications also help therapists build confidence in their practice while gathering evidence in a realistic working environment.

The purpose of these qualifications is to provide recognition for individuals seeking the necessary skills to enter employment within the beauty industry. The Qualifi Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is suitable both for those progressing from Level 1 in Beauty Therapy and for newcomers to the industry.

To attain this qualification, a learner must successfully complete all four mandatory units.

Learning Outcomes

Anatomy and physiology – Learners will understand the structure and function of the human body, as well as common pathologies and their relevance to both relative and absolute contraindications for treatment.
Health, safety, and hygiene – Learners will apply their knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene practices when preparing for and delivering treatments in a real or realistic working environment.
Client consultation – This underpins all practical technical units in this qualification. Learners will carry out thorough yet concise consultations to determine the most suitable treatment for the client’s needs and desired outcomes.
Facial skincare treatments – Learners will develop the skills to enhance and maintain the health and appearance of a client’s facial skin. They will learn how to select and use appropriate products, equipment, and techniques to tailor treatments according to the client’s skin type, condition, and goals.

Entry Requirements

This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years and above. Although there are no mandatory entry requirements for the Qualifi Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate to the ability of learners.
The qualification has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. Entry to the qualification will be through centre interview and learners will be assessed on an individual basis.
